This is confirmation for your upcoming KALX Live performance on Saturday, MONTH DATE. The show will be billed as "BAND NAME".

Show up at 6:30 PM for set up and sound check. If your setup is minimal (e.g. just 1 acoustic guitar) or easy to mic (e.g. just a laptop) you're welcome to show up later, like around 8pm, provided you let us know beforehand that you'll be showing up later. You will need to bring all of your normal instruments, amps and gear. If you have headphones that you like and that have a quarter inch stereo plug, bring them. The room you will be playing in is small, big amps are not necessary. If you have odd instrument arrangements or any special needs please let us know so that we can try and work out any unforeseen kinks ahead of time. If you can, try and book a show or two for the weeks following the performance so that you have something to plug on the air. If you have a website feel free to email it to me so we can put a link up on our website to it. Please either eat before arriving or bring food with you. There are a number of restaurants a few blocks away in the Durant Food Court. Bring a blank CD or alternatively a cassette tape if you want a recording or your performance. Don't hesitate to call the station that day during business hours (510-642-1111) if you have any questions. You can also call me if you have any last minute problems or questions on my cell # THE HOSTS CELL PHONE NUMBER. I'll be the hosting the show.

KALX RADIO, How the heck do I get there? KALX has been carefully hidden in the basement of some obscure ugly building on the UC Berkeley campus. Do not let this dissuade you. You will find the place, you will play live on the air. Follow these simple directions and you will be on our doorstep in no time.

Once you've gotten yourself into Berkeley (more on that later) head North on Telegraph Avenue. Make a right on Durant Ave. (one block past Channing Way). Go up one block and make a left onto Bowditch St. Go one block (to the end of this street) and make a left on Bancroft Way and immediately zip over to the right lane. Make your first right (onto the campus) possible. This is Barrows Lane; if you have passed Telegraph Ave. or Dana St. you've gone too far. Drive up Barrows Lane about 150 feet. On your right will be Barrows Hall. It sits at the corner of Barrows Lane and Eshleman Rd. KALX is located at 26 Barrows Hall. This is in the basement of the building. There are 2 entrances to Barrows Hall on Barrows Lane. The main entrance is on the north-west corner, up a flight of stairs. There are glass doors at this entrance. The other entrance is a "secret" gray metal door on the south-west corner of the building. If you're carrying heavy equipment, going through the "secret" door avoids going up and down the stairs. Either way, walk down the flight of stairs. We're straight down the hall about half way on the right. It's a door with the number 26 scrawled on it, with a glass window next to it.

Here is a link to the UC Berkeley campus map. Barrows hall has the word "BARROWS" next to it.

CAN I PARK HERE? Cars without UC permits may park on campus after 5:00 PM on weekdays and anytime on the weekends provided they have a UC parking ticket displayed on their dash (cost = $7). You can purchase this ticket from the ticket vending machine near Barrows Hall, ask a KALX volunteer where you can find this machine and we'll show you. If you are thinking about trying to get away with parking on campus without buying a ticket, forget about it. The University Parking Service people eat their young; you will get a ticket. If you don't want to pay for parking you can always pull up, unload, and then go park your car on the city streets.

DIRECTIONS FROM S.F. TO KALX RADIO IN BERKELEY. Take the bay bridge to the East bay; interstate 80 East. Once across the bay the interstate splits; 80 East and 580 West are on the left, 580 east is towards the right. Stay to the left and get on 80 East towards Berkeley and Sacramento (note: although counter-intuitive, 580 west and 80 east are the same stretch of freeway that you'll be driving on). You will pass the Powell Street exit, the next exit is Ashby Avenue. Exit on Ashby Avenue. Go up Ashby Avenue until you reach Telegraph Avenue and make a left onto Telegraph. Follow the directions above.

COMING FROM ANYWHERE ELSE? Look at a map, get yourself to the 580/80 freeway in Berkeley, exit Ashby Avenue and then go up Ashby Avenue until you reach Telegraph Avenue and make a left onto Telegraph. Follow the directions above.

THE DOORS ARE LOCKED, HOW DO I GET IN!?!? If the door is not propped open or unlocked you will need to call the station and have someone let you in. Call 642-1111 or 642-0264 and someone will come let you in (if you call on a campus phone then you only need to dial the last 5 digits of the telephone #).

WHEN DO WE NEED TO SHOW UP?

TIME: 6:30 pm Please show up on time as best as possible. The later you show up the less time we have to give you a good mix.

If you have any further questions on how to get to the station on the night of your performance, give us a call at (510) 642-1111.
